Ethics, Legal and Privacy Concerns for the Next Generation of Insurance Policies

We present a set of hypothetical scenarios and cases where the need for access, sharing and processing of sensitive personal information increases the transparency of the customer to buyer relationship, although it may irreversibly damage the customer’s sphere of privacy. Highly personalised early risk prediction models for use by insurance companies to estimate the probability that a specific event (heart infarct) or a disease (diabetes) occurs in a given individual over a predefined time can enable earlier and better intervention, prevent negative consequences on a person’s quality of life and thus result in improved individual health outcomes. The challenge is to design, develop and validate new generations of comprehensive models that will be the result of a consensual process with the customers and will be based on artificial intelligence and other state-of-the-art technologies using multiple available data resources and will integrate them in personalised insurance policy pathways that empower the customers to actively contribute to their own individual health-risk mitigation and prevention

Beziehung zwischen IT-Erfolgsfaktoren und IT-Risikomanagement im eGovernment

Zusammenfassung: IT-Erfolgsfaktoren beschreiben Bedingungen, die maβgeblich zur erfolgreichen Umsetzung von IT-Projekten beitragen. Über das IT-Risikomanagement wird dabei präventiv versucht, kritischen Erfolgsfaktoren Rechnung zu tragen, was u.a. durch den Einsatz von IT-Governance-Methoden unterstützt und geprüft werden kann. Der vorliegende Beitrag setzt sich mit der Beziehung zwischen IT-Risikomanagement und IT-Erfolgsfaktoren im eGovernment und deren Zusammenhang auseinander. Dazu werden Erfolgsfaktoren aus acht Studien ausgewertet und konsolidiert. Es wird der Frage nachgegangen, inwieweit die identifizierten Erfolgsfaktoren in den in der schweizerischen Bundesverwaltung eingesetzten IT-Governance-Methoden im IT-Risikomanagement berücksichtigt werden. Aus der theoretischen Gegenüberstellung wird zusätzlicher Handlungsbedarf in der Methodenunterstützung für das Risikomanagement ersichtlich, um Risiken im eGovernment effektiv antizipieren zu könne

The domain space of an analytic composition operator

In this paper we show that, for analytic composition operators between weighted Bergman spaces (including Hardy spaces) and as far as boundedness, compactness, order boundedness and certain summing properties of the adjoint are concerned, it is possible to modify domain spaces in a systematic fashion: there is a space of analytic functions which embeds continuously into each of the spaces under consideration and on which the above properties of the operator are decided. A remarkable consequence is that, in the setting of composition operators between weighted Bergman spaces, the properties in question can be identified as properties of the operator as a map between appropriately chosen Hilbert space

"Integrated" and "Transcendent" E-government: Keys for Analyzing Organizational Structure and Governance

As e-government enters the “transformation” phase, public authorities face major challenges in terms of governance and leadership. The present article consolidates prior research related to organizational structure and governance, and provides an analytical framework intended to guide empirical enquiry and to orient action. We argue that our understanding is enhanced by distinguishing an “integration” stage and a “transcendence” stage of e-government maturity. While the former is accompanied by a profusion of inter-organizational arrangements, the latter’s distinctive feature are inter-personal networks. In order to appraise the implications of these organizational structures, we identify the main reasons behind their growing importance, analyze the ways they create value, and lay the foundations of a normative approach for the choice of governance structures
